By Melissa Grant

Are your kids complaining that they are bored? Never fear, we’re here to help!

We’ve compiled a list of fabulous activities for children to do during the lockdown, including links to downloadable materials!  There are time capsule making, Bluey craft, online cartoon classes and more!

CREATE A COVID-19 CAPSULE

We are living in unprecedented times. So why not make a family time capsule to remember it?

Long Creations has come up with a time capsule worksheets to help kids remember what it was like living through the coronavirus pandemic.

No photo description available.

“We are all living through history and something I have said I wanted to do from the beginning is make a keepsake of this moment for us to look back on,” Natalie Long, of Long Creations, explained.

The worksheets include a page to draw a family picture, about me page, handprint page, letter page, interview for the parents and more.

ONLINE CARTOON DRAWING CLASSES

If you’ve got a child interested in drawing, they’ll love this!

Artist Cal Osborne has a passion for cartoons – and he’s sharing that passion with kids during the lockdown!

“When I heard all the kids are bored on lockdown, I thought it’d be a good way to help keep kids entertained,” Cal said.

Drawings have included superheroes, animals, unicorns and Star War characters.

There are livestreams and the lessons remain online so they can be accessed at any time.

MAIL MAKES MY DAY

Get your child to send mail to an elderly person in an aged care facility.

It’s a lovely gesture that’s sure to make a senior citizen smile.

This is an activity that makes a whole lot of sense given kids are at home looking for things to do and those in aged care facilities are unable to see their loved ones.

Children can write a letter, card or mail some artwork. If you are interested visit the Mail Makes My Day Facebook page.

VIRTUAL TOURS

You can’t take your kids out into the big wide world, so why not bring the world to your lounge room? There are so many cool virtual tours you can do. Discover museums, zoos, famous landmarks and even rollercoasters!
