Do you have a budding marine biologist or animal lover at home?
Sea Life Melbourne Aquarium is running a junior penguin keepers program for primary school aged kids – and it sounds adorable!
It’s a series of online resources to give kids the opportunity to learn about life as a penguin keeper through downloadable worksheets, quizzes, live streams and interviews with experienced team members.
The junior penguin keepers will get to know about the sub-Antarctic penguin species at the aquarium – elegant King penguins and playful Gentoo penguins – and the caring and devoted team who look after them.
Created for kids who simply love animals or are interested in exploring a career in marine biology or zoology, the program will delve into penguin breeding cycles, eating habits, enrichment and veterinary care.
The free resources are available to individual children or virtual classrooms and all kids will receive a certificate at the end of the six-week program.
The interactive activities and educational content will be posted on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 27 July to 3 September 2020, however, there’s no need to worry if you miss the start date as you can waddle in at any time throughout the six-week period.
